WHo is Longfellow...

First and foremost, we are proud Americans, raising families who are grateful and lucky to have been born in this incredible country.  Furthermore, we believe the Lewiston, Idaho region to be amongst the best places to live in the world; this is home for us. We are honored to be a part of the local communities and feel it a great place to raise families and operate a business.

While Longfellow LLC began as an official building contractor in 2026, brothers Chris and Shawn Jackson have been building and excavating in the area for more than 40 years combined.  After years of building/excavating together for a private corporation, they decided it best to continue their great working relationship by starting Longfellow LLC and offering our services to other businesses, government agencies and individuals.

Why the name Longfellow?

Shawn and Chris are Jacksons, paternally, and we are proud of it.  The Jackson family has ties in the Lewiston-Clarkston area for well over a century and more than 6 generations.  Longfellow is a maternal name; the name of which 1/4 of our ancestry belongs on our grandmother's side.  Grandma Pat had one brother, the late Clyde (Bud) Longfellow. Both were well know for their horsemanship abilities. Pat was a horse breeder and shower.  Clyde is still well known as one of the greatest saddle bronc riders of his time. It takes determination, strength and western grit to earn a reputation in the horse/rodeo community, so naming our business Longfellow seemed like a great way to honor Patricia and Clyde.  By using a family name, we understand the responsibility of carrying on the legacy of hard work, determination and grit.

Chris Jackson - Father, Husband, Contractor, Outdoorsman

Born in Lewiston, Idaho, graduating from Asotin High School and Lewis-Clark State College, and raising a family locally, Chris is proud to call the LC Valley his home. In his younger days, he explored the western third of the continent, from Baja to Alaska, only to end up in the place where he began. This area has beauty, great weather, nice people and ample fishing/hunting opportunities; the type of area perfect for raising a family, surrounded by family and friends  Chris' biggest joy is his marriage to Cammie and the family they have built. Busy as they are, Chris still finds time for hobbies - hunting, fishing, and attending his kid's sports events and family functions.  You know, the typical hard working family man routine.  It what we call "Living the American Dream".

Shawn Jackson - Husband, Father, Contractor, Outdoorsman

As a graduate of Asotin High School, Shawn enlisted in the US Army for a 6 year term with a focus on aircraft electronics.  After some time state-side, he was deployed to Iraq, followed by Germany.  When his 6 years came to term, Sargent Jackson moved back to the LC Valley and bean working in the construction industry. Soon he became a project manager building luxury lodges, homes and shops.  During this time, he found love, got married and had 2 daughters. They turned their home into a farm and enjoy equestrian activities. Shawn is a passionate outdoorsman and has instilled that passion into his daughters; they like to hunt, fish and enjoy other outdoor activities as much as he does.
